SKETCHBOOK #8

Chapters 7, 8, and 9 in your textbook cover the topics we've been working on recently: value scales, toning the page, and making round objects look like they have depth. Skim over those chapters and look at the examples - then set up your own still life with a strong light source and draw that still life in your sketchbook.

You have total creative freedom as long as there is a definite range of values with a light source and cast shadow. You can tone the page and erase into that ground, or start with a white page and add shading where it should be dark - your choice. Use your graphite pencil set, and refer to the chart you made in class to see which hardnesses of pencils you need to use.
